Schmaltz takes NHL goal-scoring lead after Utah’s win over New Jersey

The Utah forward scored his fifth goal in four games this season. Evan Bouchard is among the closest pursuers with four, while Kirill Kaprizov and Vasily Podkolzin are the leading Russian scorers so far.

Utah forward Nick Schmaltz moved to the top of the NHL’s 2026-27 regular-season goal-scoring standings. The 30-year-old American scored against New Jersey on Oct. 7 as Utah won 5-3. Schmaltz has five goals in four games.

Edmonton defenseman Evan Bouchard is the closest pursuer, with four goals in three games. Vegas’ Victor Olofsson, Vancouver’s Paul Cotter and Carolina’s Sebastian Aho also have four goals, each in four appearances.

Colorado’s Artturi Lehkonen has three goals in two games. Kirill Kaprizov of Minnesota, Vasily Podkolzin and Leon Draisaitl of Edmonton, Kyle Connor of Winnipeg, Zachary Bolduc of Montreal, Nashville’s Nils Höglander and Steven Stamkos, and Ottawa’s Tim Stützle have each scored three times.

The standings reflect games played through Oct. 7 and may change as the regular season continues.
