Celtic reclaim Premiership lead with win at Motherwell

Celtic beat Motherwell 2-0 away on October 11 to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership. Camilo Duran and Benjamin Nygren scored at Fir Park, where Jota made his return after a lengthy absence.

Duran opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a shot from outside the penalty area. Nygren completed a counterattack in the 58th minute to double the visitors' advantage. Home goalkeeper Alex Paulsen made several saves to prevent a third goal.

Jota came on in the second half. Celtic's official report said the Portuguese winger had been absent for 533 days following a knee injury. The appearance was his 100th for the club.

The result ended Celtic's three-match losing run in all competitions. Martin O'Neill's side have won seven of their first eight league games this season and moved above Rangers, who had taken the lead the previous day.

Motherwell suffered a fourth consecutive defeat. Celtic said their next European assignment would be an away match against Benfica in the Europa League.
