Turkey condemns attack on Riyadh airport
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry condemned a new attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 11 and reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia.
The ministry’s statement attributed the attack to the Houthis. Ankara offered condolences to the Saudi people and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. The document did not specify the number of people killed or injured.
The ministry described deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure and civilians as violations of international law and international humanitarian law. It called for an immediate end to actions threatening regional security and undermining international efforts to establish peace.
The diplomatic response followed Saturday’s attack on the airport. RIA Novosti reported damage to a departure terminal and the deaths of 12 people. The Arab coalition had also attributed the strike to the Houthis. In its new statement, Ankara specifically reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
