Sobolev apologises to fans after Sidibe confrontation

Zenit forward Alexander Sobolev apologised to supporters and television viewers for losing his temper during a confrontation with Akhmat player Kalidou Sidibe.

Speaking to Match TV, Sobolev attributed his reaction to remarks by his opponent. He called such language unacceptable and said a lengthy suspension would be justified if the allegations were proved.

The confrontation occurred in added time during Sunday's match. Teammates restrained Sobolev, who received a yellow card for his emotional behaviour. After the final whistle, Sidibe invited him to continue the confrontation in the tunnel.

After 11 rounds, Zenit have 24 points and hold second place. Akhmat have 11 points.
