Sweden extradites Russian accused of routing US electronics through Hong Kong

Sweden extradited Russian citizen Alexander Suvorov to the United States on October 15 over allegations of illegally exporting American microelectronics to Russia, the US Justice Department said.
A criminal complaint charges Suvorov with three counts connected to the alleged export scheme. Investigators say it operated from March 2022 to April 2023 and involved components with both civilian and military applications.
According to the complaint, Hong Kong front companies, including GS Group Limited, placed orders with US suppliers and arranged payments and onward shipments to conceal the Russian end users.
The maximum prison terms on the three counts total 45 years, with maximum fines totalling $1.75 million. Those figures describe the statutory maximums on the charges, rather than an imposed sentence.
The Justice Department said Suvorov's initial appearance is expected on October 16 in Albany, in the Northern District of New York.
