Swinney announces new Scottish independence campaign

Scotland's First Minister John Swinney announced on October 17 that a new Choose Scotland campaign would seek to persuade people who do not yet support independence.
Addressing the Scottish National Party's annual conference, its leader said the campaign would begin this weekend and target people still unconvinced about leaving the United Kingdom.
Swinney argued that existing devolved powers were insufficient. He described Scotland as a nation and advocated a future as an independent state.
