Telegraph reports Greece and Spain resisting PAC-2 transfers

Greece and Spain are refusing to transfer Patriot PAC-2 interceptors nearing the end of their storage life to Ukraine despite appeals from NATO and the EU, The Telegraph reported on October 9.

According to RIA Novosti's account of the report, NATO and EU officials are trying to persuade both countries to provide missiles for Ukrainian air defenses. The report concerns negotiations and resistance to releasing existing stocks, rather than a decision on a new delivery.

The Telegraph put Greece's relevant PAC-2 stocks at at least 200 missiles. The corresponding quantity held by Spain was not disclosed in the account, which recalled Spain's earlier 2026 pledge to provide missiles to Ukraine.

The quantities and negotiating positions remain the newspaper's reporting. RIA Novosti's account contained no confirmation of an agreed transfer. Russian authorities have previously argued that Western arms deliveries obstruct a settlement, reflecting Russia's position.
