The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation will run 7,000 special buses for Dasara travel. It expects the heaviest outbound traffic on Oct. 9, 10, 16 and 17, with return crowds expected on Oct. 25 and 26.
Of the total, 3,533 buses will operate in the Karimnagar zone, 2,155 in the Hyderabad zone and 1,312 in the Greater Hyderabad zone. The Karimnagar allocation covers Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam. The Hyderabad zone includes Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy.
Special services will operate from major Hyderabad stations and boarding points, including MGBS, JBS, Uppal, Aramghar, LB Nagar Cross Roads, KPHB, Bowenpally and Gachibowli. The corporation is arranging shelters, canopies, chairs, public-address systems, drinking water and mobile toilets for passengers.
The corporation said buses would be allocated according to expected demand for festival travel and return journeys. Officials expect heavier passenger traffic on the listed dates.
Under a state order issued in 2003, fares on special services for festivals and other occasions may be raised by up to 1.5 times the standard rate. The rule applies only to special buses, including services within Telangana and to other states. Regular bus fares will remain unchanged.
