Three convicted in Mexico over murders of Robinson brothers and their friend

A Mexican court has convicted three men of murdering Australians Jake Robinson and Callum Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad during a surfing trip in 2024.
The verdict was delivered on October 9 in Ensenada, Baja California, AP and ABC reported. Those convicted are Jesús Gerardo, known as El Kekas, Irineo Francisco and Ángel Jesús.
ABC said the court found them guilty of aggravated homicide and several related offences. Sentencing is scheduled for October 16.
The brothers from Western Australia and their friend were killed on Mexico's Pacific coast in April 2024. Prosecutors linked the killings to a robbery.
The brothers' parents, Debra Robinson and Martin Robinson, travelled from Australia and attended the verdict. Afterwards, their father described the convictions as an important step towards justice.
