Three hospitalised after shooting in Yerevan

Three people with gunshot wounds were taken to medical centres after an argument escalated into a shooting in Yerevan, Armenia's Interior Ministry said on October 11. Criminal proceedings have begun.

Police said the first calls reporting an argument near Kanaker's 9th Street came from 11:52 p.m. on October 10. Responding officers determined that a conflict among a group of people began near a house on Agasi Street and continued on Tbilisi Highway, where firearms were used.

Patrol officers on the highway spotted an armed man and subdued him. He was also taken to hospital. The ministry's statement does not establish that he was a separate fourth injured person: the confirmed total is three hospitalised with gunshot wounds.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the confrontation. The ministry did not give the participants' names, the motive for the argument or the wounded people's condition. Local outlets also reported the three hospitalisations and the opening of criminal proceedings, citing police.
