Tour bus hits moose in Chuvashia, with no passengers injured

A tour bus travelling from Yoshkar-Ola to Murom struck a moose in Russia’s Chuvashia region on the evening of October 11. Regional traffic police reported no passenger injuries, while the animal was hurt.

The collision occurred at about 6 p.m. Moscow time at kilometre 51 of the Cheboksary–Surskoye road in Krasnoarmeysky district. The Iveco bus hit the animal on a stretch covered by a warning sign for wild animals.

There were 17 passengers aboard, including two minors. Another bus was called to the scene to take them to their destination.

Specialists from Chuvashia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology were also called to assist the injured moose. The traffic police statement did not give an update on the animal’s condition or the outcome of that assistance.
