A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on the evening of October 6. Tremors were also felt in Delhi and adjoining areas, The Hindu reported. India’s National Center for Seismology said the quake originated at a depth of 13 kilometers.
The earthquake was recorded at 10:23 p.m. local time. Tremors were felt in parts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, and some residents left their homes. The NCS confirmed the magnitude and depth in its reviewed event record.
Authorities had reported no damage or injuries at the time of publication. The official parameters were published by the National Center for Seismology, while other media reports also said the tremor was felt across the Delhi National Capital Region.
