Trump donor alleges Guilfoyle sought $100,000 credit-card payment

Eric Deters says the former U.S. ambassador to Greece offered access to administration officials in exchange for payment. Guilfoyle’s lawyer disputes the messages’ authenticity and offered a possible explanation for the money.

Donald Trump donor and former Kentucky candidate Eric Deters said Kimberly Guilfoyle asked him to pay a $100,000 credit-card bill in July 2025, shortly before her Senate confirmation hearing for ambassador to Greece. ABC News reported his allegation, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Deters gave ABC News messages that he says he exchanged with Guilfoyle. He alleges the payment request was tied to a promise to help him gain access to administration officials. He said he did not send the money. Guilfoyle’s attorney disputed the messages’ authenticity and said the payment could have been reimbursement for travel and speaking expenses.

Deters also said he expected help with the extradition of an Ohio doctor who is in Pakistan. He said he separately offered money for assistance on that matter. ABC News noted that Deters previously lost primary bids for Kentucky governor and Congress and had his law license suspended.

Vice President JD Vance criticized selling access to government officials but said he did not know the details of this case. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also declined to confirm the allegations. ABC News said it sought comment from Guilfoyle, her attorney and the U.S. Embassy in Greece.
