Turan considered for Türkiye coaching role, NTV Spor reports

The Turkish Football Federation is considering Arda Turan as national team coach following Vincenzo Montella's departure, NTV Spor reported. Turan currently manages Shakhtar.

The broadcaster said a potential arrangement would allow Turan to combine the national team job with his role at the Ukrainian club. No appointment has been announced. The federation parted ways with Montella on Friday, October 9.

Turan, 39, won 100 caps and scored 16 goals for Türkiye, helping the team secure bronze at Euro 2008. His club career included Galatasaray, Manisaspor, Istanbul Basaksehir, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

He took charge of Eyupspor in 2023 and led the Istanbul club into Türkiye's top division for the first time in the 2023/24 season. Turan became Shakhtar's head coach in May 2025.
