Tuva opens child cruelty case involving four-year-old

Investigators are examining injuries to a boy in Kyzyl and allege that his mother repeatedly harmed him.
Tuva's Investigative Committee announced a new case concerning cruelty towards a young child on October 13. The alleged conduct dates to September. That is the investigators' account, rather than a court-established finding of guilt.
Police said the previous day that multiple injuries had been noticed at the four-year-old's kindergarten. A forensic examination recorded injuries in several parts of his body.
Police had already opened a case concerning failure to fulfil child-rearing duties. The 33-year-old mother was brought to a police station and placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. Police also reported inadequate hygiene care.
Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the alleged violence. They also plan to assess the actions of officials in the child-protection and prevention system. No findings from that assessment have been announced.
