Two teenagers killed in motorcycle crash in Russia’s Altai region

Investigators have opened a criminal case after a motorcycle collided with a car in the Zonalny district of Russia’s Altai region, killing two 17-year-olds.

According to the regional Investigative Committee, one of the teenagers was riding a SYCMCC 250 motorcycle from the settlement of Mirny toward Biysk. The motorcycle entered the oncoming lane and collided with a car.

The motorcycle’s rider and his 17-year-old passenger died from their injuries. Investigators said the rider did not have a licence to operate the motorcycle.

The case was opened under Part 5 of Article 264 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which covers traffic violations that negligently cause the deaths of two people. Investigators are still establishing the circumstances. Regional broadcaster Katun 24, citing traffic police, reported that the crash occurred on October 8 and involved a Sollers Atlant.
