Ukraine’s parliament invites Klitschko to report on Kyiv

Ukraine’s parliament approved an invitation for Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko to report on the city on Oct. 13. First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Kornienko later said he was expected at noon on Oct. 14.
The official voting record shows 151 lawmakers in favour, eight opposed and nine abstaining. The proposal was introduced by Mariana Bezuhla.
A similar attempt the previous day did not receive enough votes. Interfax-Ukraine initially reported that Tuesday’s proposal did not specify a date or time, before publishing Kornienko’s clarification.
The move comes amid disagreement over Kyiv’s preparations for winter and attacks on energy infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticised the city administration’s preparations on Oct. 9.
Klitschko has rejected accusations that the city failed to prepare for the heating season, calling them unfounded. The parliamentary invitation itself does not establish responsibility for power outages or endorse either side’s allegations.
