Vance says he may decide against a 2028 presidential run

US Vice President JD Vance told CBS he has not decided whether to run for president in 2028 and acknowledged that he might stay out of the race.

Asked whether there was a chance he would not run, Vance said there was. RIA Novosti reported his remarks on October 18. According to the agency, he has told his family he does not want to decide before November's congressional midterm elections.

In mid-September, Donald Trump said it was premature to discuss endorsing Vance as his successor, while praising the vice president's work.

Politico has identified Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as leading contenders to succeed Trump.
