Semak seeks video evidence after Zenit–Akhmat confrontation
Zenit coach Sergei Semak said the club would try to find footage of the confrontation involving Akhmat players so that the person who started it could be punished.
Zenit won the home Premier League match 3–2 in round 11. Players from both sides became involved in a late confrontation, and Alexander Sobolev and Kalidou Sidibe continued their dispute after the final whistle.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Semak condemned what he described as a provocation and said he understood his players’ response. He also acknowledged that football’s rules required a different reaction.
Asked whether he meant an Akhmat defender, Semak did not identify a player. He repeated that he meant the person who started the conflict, according to the transcript published by Zenit.
Zenit lead the table with 24 points, while Akhmat have 11 points in position 13. Zenit next host Dynamo Makhachkala on October 25, and Akhmat host Orenburg on October 23.
