Volkanovski proposes lightweight title fight against Gaethje

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski proposed facing lightweight champion Justin Gaethje for his belt, describing the matchup as a possible final bout for both men.

Speaking on the Who The Fook Are These Guys? podcast, Volkanovski suggested leaving the lightweight title picture to other contenders afterward, without pursuing further rematches himself. The UFC has not announced negotiations or an agreement for the proposed fight.

Volkanovski has challenged for the lightweight title twice against Islam Makhachev and lost both bouts. Gaethje now holds the division's championship.

Volkanovski's next opponent remains unbeaten contender Movsar Evloev. Their featherweight title bout will headline UFC 333 at Etihad Arena on October 24.
