Neha Bora and fellow protest leaders detained on way to Dilli Haat

Delhi police detained All India Students’ Association president Neha Bora and several public figures heading towards Dilli Haat on October 10. The Hindu, Times of India and Moneycontrol reported the detentions.
Those detained alongside Bora included Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, political commentator Yogendra Yadav and lawyer Prashant Bhushan. Reports placed the detentions around INA Market and the Safdarjung Airport flyover.
Bora confirmed her detention in a video posted on X and urged supporters to keep gathering. She had earlier presented Dilli Haat as an alternative protest venue following restrictions on access to Jantar Mantar. Bora called the demonstration “Jantar Mantar 2.0”.
Police erected barricades from the Jor Bagh side. The Hindu reported that some participants continued towards Dilli Haat on foot using smaller streets.
The demonstration concerned demands directed at the Election Commission’s leadership and criticism of electoral-roll revision. Organisers challenged the restrictions on their protest. Their assertions about the legality of the detentions represent the protesters’ position rather than a judicial finding.
