Autopsy confirms heart attack as cause of Nana Patekar's death
Actor Nana Patekar died from a heart attack caused by a clot in the left main coronary artery, a senior Goa Medical College and Hospital doctor said on October 11, citing the autopsy findings.
The report classified the death as natural. The diagnosis quoted by The Hindu links the thrombosis to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. It confirms the earlier suspicion that the actor had suffered a heart attack.
The 75-year-old was taken to a private hospital early on October 8 after falling ill at home in Dona Paula, near Panaji. A doctor said resuscitation continued for 45 minutes but could not revive him. He was declared dead at 5:10 a.m.
Following the autopsy, his son Malhar took the body to Maharashtra. Patekar was cremated with state honours in Donje village. His films include Krantiveer and Khamoshi: The Musical.
