Rampaul urges West Indies to avoid clusters of wickets against India

West Indies bowling coach Ravi Rampaul warned his side about losing wickets in clusters ahead of the second T20I against India.

In the series opener, the visitors slipped from 38 without loss to 44 for three, then from 107 for three to 135 for eight. Rampaul said such middle-order collapses had troubled the team before and again made it difficult to post a big total.

He singled out Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer as strong players of spin, saying West Indies can score heavily when they stay at the crease through the middle overs. Rampaul urged the other leading batters to build longer innings and rotate the strike.

The coach also acknowledged a lack of international experience in the bowling attack. He said the group was young, with many players having played few T20 internationals, and that inexperience could make it harder to execute plans. The second match of the series is scheduled for Friday at the JSCA Stadium.
