Witkoff arrives in St Petersburg after Oslo peace talks

US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff has arrived in St Petersburg, RIA Novosti reported. He discussed efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine in Oslo before the trip.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb attended the meeting in the Norwegian capital. Jared Kushner joined remotely.

After the consultations, Stubb reported progress in discussions on security and the economy. He said Witkoff intended to present the resulting elements to the Russian side.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the talks had produced nothing unexpected. Axios reporter Barak Ravid, citing a source in Washington, reported that the United States, Ukraine and Europe had aligned their positions on the next steps toward a settlement.
