Zabaykalsky region considers ban on vape sales from March 2027

A committee of the Zabaykalsky regional legislature endorsed a Bill proposing a ban on vape sales and additional restrictions on tobacco retailing. The changes would start on March 1, 2027 if adopted.
The regional tariff service prepared the proposal, RIA Novosti reported on Oct. 13. The Bill is being prepared for consideration at a plenary session in two readings.
The proposal distinguishes a ban on electronic nicotine-delivery systems and liquids from restrictions on where tobacco products can be sold. Regional official Olga Makarova described that distinction at the committee meeting, according to MK Chita.
Restricted tobacco-sales locations would include children’s recreation and health facilities, sports venues, social-service institutions and recreation areas. The committee’s endorsement is a recommendation for further legislative consideration.
The federal framework allows regions to introduce temporary vape-sale bans from March 2027. The regional proposal has not yet become an operative prohibition.
