Zhanna Gudkova becomes senator representing Primorye’s legislature

Primorsky Krai’s Legislative Assembly appointed Zhanna Gudkova as its representative in Russia’s Federation Council. The regional parliament said all 38 lawmakers present supported her.

The committee on regional policy, legality and international cooperation had recommended Gudkova’s candidacy. The senator was chosen by secret ballot.

Gudkova was elected to the regional legislature’s eighth convocation on September 20 on the United Russia party list. She chairs its budget, taxation and financial resources committee.

She is the widow of Mikhail Gudkov, a twice-awarded Hero of Russia and former commander of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade. He was appointed deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy in April 2025 and died on a combat mission in the Kursk region on July 2, 2025.

President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Mikhail Gudkov a second Gold Star medal and presented it to Zhanna Gudkova at a Kremlin meeting.
