Zhirinovsky’s daughter lists forecasts she says came true

Anastasia Botsan-Kharchenko said her father accurately predicted Russia’s pivot toward partners in the East and Global South, NATO activity in former Soviet republics and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In an interview with TASS, the LDPR founder’s daughter said that in the 1990s and 2000s Vladimir Zhirinovsky criticised a foreign policy course that, in his view, was oriented exclusively toward the West. He urged Russia to seek military allies and economic partners in countries in the East and South.

Botsan-Kharchenko also recalled her father’s warnings about NATO activity through the Baltic states, the Caucasus, Central Asia and Moldova. She said Zhirinovsky expected Western countries to foment a conflict between Russia and Ukraine following the Yugoslav scenario, leading to armed clashes, including in Russia’s border regions.

The claims about the forecasts and their fulfilment were made by the politician’s daughter. In the published report, she named four predictions she considered fulfilled, including the conflict in Ukraine and efforts to isolate Russia.
