Zvinchuk says Russian embassy is helping recover seized equipment

Russia’s embassy in Montenegro is working to recover equipment seized from the Rybar team during its detention, project founder Mikhail Zvinchuk said. RIA Novosti reported his remarks on October 11.

Zvinchuk previously said all the group’s equipment had been taken during questioning and that he intended to sue Montenegro’s authorities. In his latest comment, he said the embassy was handling the matter and the team had consulted lawyers. He did not announce that the property had been returned or that a lawsuit had been registered in court.

Zvinchuk, his wife Valeria and three colleagues were detained in Risan on October 9. They returned to Russia overnight into October 11 following their release.

The project founder linked the detention to an official request to film at Cetinje Monastery. Russia’s embassy asked Montenegro’s authorities to explain the grounds for the detention.
