Yandex reports Vladimir data centre shutdown after drone attack

Yandex said on the morning of October 11 that a drone attack had damaged infrastructure at its data centre in Vladimir, Russia, and brought the facility to a complete halt. The company reported no injuries.

The company warned that its remaining resources were unstable and that the platform was operating in emergency mode. It advised users to activate alternative disaster recovery plans in the notice accompanying the shutdown announcement.

Yandex's press office separately told Interfax that some services had become unavailable to users. The statement did not identify every affected product or give a timetable for restoring the data centre.

Specialist services were addressing the damage at the site, according to Yandex. Its team was assessing the losses and possible ways to resume operations. The company also warned that communications with technical support could be unreliable.
