Acemoglu warns of superintelligence risks for labour market

Nobel laureate Daron Acemoglu warned that approaching artificial superintelligence on the industry's current trajectory could destroy the labour market within the next ten years.
In an interview with Der Spiegel, the economist linked the risk to the industry's ambition to build systems that exceed human capabilities. He also warned of a threat to democracy if development continued on its current path.
Acemoglu called for AI development to be redirected towards workers' needs, an approach he said conflicted with industry interests.
