Hyderabad police urge residents to avoid roadside birthday parties

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar urged residents on October 9 to avoid midnight birthday celebrations on Tank Bund and other major roads. He warned of risks to families gathering near traffic.

The appeal particularly addresses young people and parents. Sajjanar advised residents to celebrate birthdays at home or in other safe venues and avoid late-night gatherings near lakes and in parks.

He referred to a recent accident on Tank Bund. According to the commissioner, a family gathered at around 2 a.m. for a six-year-old girl's birthday. The child and a family member died in the collision. He cited the incident as an example of the dangers of roadside celebrations.

Sajjanar said he inspected the accident location with senior police officers. Officials reviewed preventive measures in coordination with other government departments.

He reminded residents that birthday celebrations and cake-cutting on Tank Bund are already prohibited under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation rules. Some visitors return at night after police ask them to leave, he said. The commissioner warned that motorists often speed when traffic is light and urged residents to follow the rules.
