Aleksey Miranchuk praises young Russia players while resisting generational claims

The midfielder praised his younger teammates but declined to describe their emergence as a changing of generations. TASS published his comments on October 9.
Miranchuk said the young players were doing their jobs well and had many years of their careers ahead of them. He wished his teammates good health and continued improvement.
The midfielder was cautious about the team’s longer-term outlook. Football makes tomorrow difficult to predict, he said, explaining that he prefers to concentrate on the present rather than draw sweeping conclusions about the future.
The discussion followed the involvement of young players in Russia’s 3:3 draw with Nigeria. The starting lineup included 21-year-old midfielders Matvey Kislyak and Aleksey Batrakov, alongside 22-year-old defender Viktor Melekhin.
TASS identified Kislyak as a CSKA player, Batrakov as a Galatasaray player and Melekhin as a Rostov player. Miranchuk’s positive assessment of their work was accompanied by caution about describing a lasting generational transition in the national team.
