GMC Jagtial secures written timetable for unfinished campus facilities

Student representatives at GMC Jagtial and authorities in India's Telangana state signed an October 9 agreement setting handover deadlines for hostels, teaching buildings and other campus facilities.
The agreement requires boys' and girls' hostels to be handed over to the college administration by November 25, 2026. They are intended to accommodate students, interns and resident doctors, with dedicated reading rooms.
The permanent teaching building, excluding the administrative block, is due for completion and handover by December 9. Its facilities are to include lecture halls with centralised air-conditioning and equipped departmental laboratories. Students had also sought at least four gallery-style lecture theatres and a central library with adequate reading rooms.
The sports ground is scheduled for handover in the first week of January 2027. The remaining infrastructure, including the administrative block, internal roads, drainage and landscaping, is due by the second week of February.
Deccan Chronicle reported that the agreement was signed by the Roads and Buildings Department's chief engineer, Vensa Infrastructure Limited and student representatives. The student body said the written commitments enabled it to withdraw its protest and resume academic and clinical duties immediately.
The agreement also addresses construction-related hazards to meet National Medical Commission standards. The dates are commitments for future completion of the facilities.
