AMD shows Verano processor with LPDDR5X support at OCP
Lisa Su showed AMD’s next-generation EPYC Verano processor at the OCP summit on Oct. 12. ComputerBase reported a configuration of up to 192 cores, exceeding the earlier figure of 72.
AMD’s own account confirms that Verano is its first EPYC processor with an LPDDR memory interface and is due in 2027. The reporting places it in the EPYC 9006 LP family, with availability expected in the first half of that year.
LPDDR5X support is intended to reduce power use in server systems. The announcement is a preview of a future processor, rather than the start of customer sales.
The photographed samples prompted speculation about chiplet layout, memory modules and a soldered motherboard connection. Those interpretations are not a final published specification, so they do not establish the product’s exact construction.
Su also discussed rising CPU demand from AI inference and agent workloads. The market growth figures cited in the coverage are her forecasts, rather than independently verified future sales.
