Apple introduces HomeView and refreshes its smart home devices

Apple announced a home control display, HomePod mini 2, a new Apple TV 4K and connected accessories on October 13.
HomeView has a 7-inch display and facial recognition for six personal user profiles. Apple says it supports FaceTime, calendars, messages and control of compatible cameras, lighting and other home devices.
Desktop and wall-mounted versions are planned. HomeView sales in its initial markets begin November 13. Apple says it will not initially be sold in the European Union, where Siri AI is unavailable in iOS.
HomePod mini 2 uses an S10 chip and an updated audio system. The speaker goes on sale October 30, but Siri AI support will arrive later through a software update. The assistant's announcement therefore does not mean it will be available on the speaker at launch.
The new Apple TV 4K includes microphones for voice control. Apple says it can be paired with four speakers to create a home theater setup.
Apple Home Collection includes cameras, thermostats, sensors, a video doorbell and a door lock. Developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the accessories are managed through Apple Home. The capabilities described are manufacturer claims rather than findings from independent testing.
