Apple and LG are developing a doorbell, thermostat, smart lock and security cameras, according to Bloomberg. The devices are expected to work with Apple’s upcoming home hub.
Apple and LG are working together on several smart-home devices, Bloomberg reported. As summarized by TechCrunch, the lineup will include a smart lock, thermostat and doorbell. The companies are also developing indoor and outdoor security cameras, as well as a floodlight camera.
The devices are expected to integrate with Apple’s home hub. Bloomberg previously reported that the hub could launch on October 13 with a square display measuring about six inches. It is expected to sit on a countertop or mount on a wall.
TechCrunch said the new hardware could be announced next week, although an official release date has not been confirmed. Despite the joint development, the devices are reportedly expected to carry the LG brand. TechCrunch said it had contacted Apple for comment.
If the reports prove accurate, the accessories would expand Apple’s presence in the smart-home market, where Amazon already sells comparable products, including Ring cameras. For now, these are media reports; Apple has not officially announced the devices.
