After his release from custody, Argentine actor Maxi Ghione posted a video apologizing to people close to him and denying rumors of addiction. He also asked for items seized during a search of his home to be returned.
La Nación reported that Ghione, 53, was detained on Sept. 29 in the town of Lehmann as part of an investigation into alleged unlawful deprivation of liberty and aggravated threats. He remained in custody until Oct. 2, when a court in Rafaela released him after a hearing. The investigation began with a complaint from Emiliano Tarragona, who said he had gone to Ghione’s home for a private meeting, was unable to leave for several hours and later received threatening messages.
In his new video, Ghione said he was willing to undergo any tests to disprove rumors of addiction. He asked for his mobile phone back, saying he uses it for work and needs the income to pay rent. He also sought the return of a collection of firearms seized during the search. Ghione said the paperwork was in order and that some of the weapons had been passed down through his family.
Ghione said he had no criminal record and maintained that he was innocent. The allegations remain under investigation. He also said the episode had affected his relationship with the woman he loves.
