Arsenal announces death of life president Ken Friar

Arsenal has announced the death of its life president, Ken Friar. He worked for the London club from his teenage years and held several senior positions.
Friar began working part-time for Arsenal in 1946. He became club secretary in 1973 and was appointed managing director in 1983.
In 2020, he stepped down from his executive role and became life president. During his long association with the club, he helped guide its development and played a part in organising the move from Highbury to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal's statement paid tribute to his exceptional contribution to the club's history and his decades of service. In 2000, Friar was awarded an OBE for his services to football.
