Austrian Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna diverts to Sofia after bomb threat

An Austrian Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna made an unscheduled landing in Sofia on Sunday evening after a reported bomb threat. The Airbus A320 carried 51 passengers and six crew members.
The crew reported receiving the warning near the Romanian border and decided to divert to Sofia, BTA reported, citing Bulgaria’s Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Passengers left the aircraft as security services began an inspection. Austrian Airlines spokeswoman Anita Kiefer confirmed to Austrian Wings that the plane had landed safely.
The airline said passengers would be rebooked on an alternative connection to Vienna after the aircraft was checked.
