Bear-repellent device purchases rise 62% in Atol’s Russian sales sample
Purchases of bear-repellent devices rose 62% in Atol’s January–September 2026 sample compared with the same period a year earlier. Their average price fell 35% to 667 rubles, the analysts told RIA Novosti.
The analysis, reported on October 11, uses anonymised data from 2.5 million receipts for animal-repellent devices covering January–September 2025 and 2026. Bird-repellent devices recorded the strongest growth, at 89%. Their average price fell by almost half to 432 rubles.
Mole-repellent purchases increased 63%, while their average price declined 15% to 800 rubles. Dog-repellent devices saw an 8% increase in purchases and a 15% price decline to 578 rubles.
Purchases fell in two categories. Mouse-repellent devices were bought 14% less often, and their average price fell 9% to 569 rubles. Universal animal repellents recorded a 31% decline in purchases and an 8% price decrease to 749 rubles.
The figures describe purchases within the sample. They do not measure how effectively the devices protect against animals or establish why demand changed.
