Benoit Groulx says he is open to coaching in the KHL again

Former Traktor head coach Benoit Groulx says he is considering a return to the KHL and is waiting for the right opportunity. Sports outlets reported his comments on October 10.

The Canadian said he was keeping different options open this year. He described Russia as a major hockey country and said he could see himself coaching in the KHL again. His comments did not announce a contract or an appointment.

Under Groulx in the 2024/25 season, Traktor finished first in the Eastern Conference regular-season standings and reached the Gagarin Cup final. The Chelyabinsk team lost the championship series 4-1 to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Groulx left his Traktor post on November 17, 2025, citing mental and physical fatigue.

He took charge of Switzerland’s Zug in January 2026 and worked there until the end of the previous season. He is now awaiting an opportunity to continue his coaching career.
