Delhi High Court schedules Youth Congress protest plea for Monday

The Delhi High Court declined an urgent hearing on the Indian Youth Congress’s request to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The court said it would take up the matter on October 12.
On Friday, October 9, the group’s representatives again asked for an urgent listing, but a bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma declined. The judges said the matter would be heard on Monday.
The Indian Youth Congress is challenging a Delhi Police order that denied permission for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The proposed protest concerns alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, known as SIR. The court’s refusal to list the case urgently does not resolve the petition against the police decision.
