Bloomberg: Apple plans December Apple Intelligence launch in China

Apple plans to launch Apple Intelligence in mainland China in December alongside iOS 27.3, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the plans. The company has not publicly confirmed the timing.
The planned feature set includes personalised Genmoji, notification summaries, writing tools and removal of objects from photos. These capabilities first appeared in the United States two years earlier.
Some text-generation functions in individual apps would be restricted to meet Chinese requirements. The new Siri and other features announced in 2026 would not be part of the December launch, Bloomberg said.
Apple is working with Alibaba and Baidu on the Chinese version. Its work with Alibaba covers controls over model updates, while its collaboration with Baidu concerns search features and Siri.
The launch had previously slipped from May 2025 to the end of that year and then to spring 2026. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment on Bloomberg's new reporting.
