Ally gets July 2027 South Korean release window

Barunson C&C has announced when Bong Joon-ho’s first animated film will reach South Korean cinemas. An exact domestic release date has not been specified.

The company outlined the plans on October 9, Yonhap reported. Ally is scheduled to open in France on July 14, 2027. A release in the United States is also planned.

The story takes place in the deep ocean, among creatures fascinated by humans and the world above the surface. Ally sets off on an unexpected journey with friends after an aircraft crashes into the sea and sinks.

Bong Joon-ho has been developing the animation since 2018. Jason Yu, director of the 2023 mystery horror film Sleep, contributed to the screenplay.

It is the first animated film from the Oscar-winning director of Parasite. Ally will be his next feature after the 2025 science-fiction film Mickey 17.
