Boxer Liam Smith appears in court over alleged Manchester assault
Former world champion Liam Smith appeared at Manchester Crown Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to an apartment building concierge. The next hearing is set for 28 November, the BBC reported.
Prosecutors allege Smith struck the man in the head during a confrontation in September while he lay on the floor. The judge referred to two blows when describing CCTV footage.
Smith remains on bail, with conditions barring contact with the alleged victim and entry into Manchester except for court appearances or appointments with his solicitor.
Smith, 38, held the WBO light-middleweight title in 2015–2016. He is due to enter his plea at the hearing on 28 November.
