Guilherme Boulos, a minister in Brazil’s presidential office, said he received a death threat by email and referred the matter to the Federal Police. He said the message also contained personal information, including his home address.

The email arrived on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Boulos described it in a post on X and shared an image of the message. The sender identified himself as Pedro Henrique Gaiardo, but CNN Brasil has not independently verified that identity.

According to the minister, the email threatened him over possible tax increases or making voting mandatory. It ended with the German phrase “Mit Freundlichen Grüßen,” meaning “kind regards.” Boulos said the sign-off could point to a possible link to neo-Nazi groups, though the report offered no confirmation of that theory.

Boulos said he had contacted the Federal Police. CNN Brasil said it had asked the agency for comment and was awaiting a response. The minister wrote that the sender would be arrested, but the status of any investigation was not clear in the report.
