Christa Pike returns to prison after hospital treatment following failed execution

Christa Pike, who survived Tennessee's attempt to execute her by lethal injection, has left hospital and returned to prison, her attorneys said on October 10.
Pike was moved back to Deborah K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, where she was held before the procedure scheduled for September 30. Her lawyers said she is continuing to receive medical care at the prison.
The 50-year-old remained alive after receiving two doses of the execution drug and was hospitalised. During the following week, her lawyers reported that she regained consciousness, began speaking and took her first steps with assistance.
In Saturday's statement, the legal team thanked first responders and medical staff and said it would continue monitoring her recovery. Associated Press also reported her discharge, citing the attorneys.
Pike was sentenced to death for killing 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. The announcement about her return to prison did not include a decision on the future of her death sentence.
