Serbia is developing national-language AI model, Perko Matovic says

Serbia is developing its own artificial intelligence model in its national language, Information and Telecommunications Ministry State Secretary Perko Matovic told RIA Novosti. He discussed the project at the second Global Digital Forum in Moscow.
Matovic said Serbia was studying experience from Russia and China. He separately addressed artificial intelligence regulation, saying the country was drawing on elements of both states' approaches.
He described Russian experience in developing models as useful and gave a favourable assessment of Russian systems compared with Western alternatives. That was the official's evaluation in the interview, rather than the outcome of a published comparative model test.
The forum ran in Moscow from October 8 to 10, and its programme confirms Matovic's participation. In a separate IT Russia interview at the same event, he had earlier emphasised government oversight of AI development and the preservation of national sovereignty.
