Jonny Clayton wins Swiss Darts Trophy and secures Grand Slam place
Jonny Clayton beat Luke Humphries 8-4 in Basel on Oct. 11 to win the Swiss Darts Trophy and qualify for November's Grand Slam of Darts.
The Welshman's victory gave him his first ranking title of 2026 and his fourth European Tour crown. He was more accurate on doubles in the final, while Humphries had the stronger scoring.
The decisive shift came in the tenth leg. After the opening nine legs went with throw, Clayton broke to move ahead. He then held his own throw and won another leg against the throw to finish the match.
Clayton had beaten Karel Sedlacek 6-2 in the quarter-finals and Gian van Veen 7-4 in the semi-finals, averaging 105 in the latter match. Humphries reached the final by defeating Cristo Reyes 6-3 and Mensur Suljovic 7-4. The Grand Slam will take place in Wolverhampton from Nov. 14 to 22.
