Safety inspection completed on Bengaluru Metro’s elevated Pink Line

The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety has completed a three-day statutory inspection of a 7.5-kilometer elevated section of Namma Metro’s Pink Line. Passenger service can begin after the inspection’s conditions are met.

The inspection covered the section between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere from Tuesday through Thursday, including six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.

On Tuesday, inspectors checked the mainline and associated infrastructure using a motor trolley. The following day they inspected Kothanur Depot and conducted train trials and mainline tests. On Thursday, the team visited the Operations Control Centre at Baiyappanahalli, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials said.

A BMRCL official said the statutory inspection is required before the corridor can open to passengers. Authorization will depend on the company meeting the observations and conditions set by the commissioner.

BMRCL received a speed certificate from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation in August 2026. The Railway Board then gave provisional sanction for the rolling stock, and an independent safety assessor certified the signalling system. Once the corridor opens, Namma Metro’s operational network will grow from 96.10 km to 103.60 km.
